Caterwil recieved state support to develop standing power wheelchair

Caterwil received funding from the Innovation Promotion Fund in order to develop a multifunctional all-terrain wheelchair with the option to change position from seating to standing.

The application was supported within the strategy of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation in the section “Transition to personalized medicine, high-tech health care and health saving technologies.”

The project aims to create an unique and complex device: the standing power wheelchair will be designed to provide therapy for patients with neurological disorders resulting from stroke, traumatic injuries of the spinal cord and brain, with multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and other neurological diseases of the lower limb.

The practical side of this project is important as well: the upright position allows users to have access to the upper cabinets of the house and to high shelves in the store. And high-tech approaches in the construction of the running gear will expand the boundaries of the user’s personal accessible environment.

This model will join the company’s line of high-tech devices, including stair-climbing, all-terrain, and lightweight wheelchairs.
